Frogbit is a hardy and extremely fast growing floating plant. It does well in almost all light intensities, pH, and hardness. Direct summer sun is a bit too intense for it in Texas, but it thrives in fall and spring sun, or under all forms of indoor light. It grows very fast in clusters of 3 or more leaves spawning a new baby plant about once a week in ideal conditions, the roots will drop down from the center of the cluster, and grow longer when nutrients are scarce. The large plant size makes it much easier to maintain (prune/remove an prevent infestation) than small floaters like duckweed.
Frog bit is excellent in breeding tanks, shrimp tanks, and ponds It provides good hiding and shade for fry and babies and the fast growth does well in reducing nitrates.
Sold in portions large enough to loosely fill an 8oz container. Usually more than 20 plants.
Red Root Floater is a unique and beautiful floating plant.
Similar in care and growth to frogbit though it is a slightly more difficult plant to keep. High light and nutrients are required to achieve the golden leaves and red roots. It grows in clustered lines of 3 or more leaves spawning a new baby plant about once every few weeks in ideal conditions.
Sold in portions large enough to loosely fill an 8oz container. Usually more than 20 plants.
