Hygrophila

Most Hygrophila are extremely hardy and easy to grow. They are stem plants that can be propagated easily by trimming and replanting the trimmed stems.

They do well in almost all light intensities, pH, and hardness. An excellent plant for beginners and for low tech systems.

It can be grown floating or rooted but I will grow best when rooted in a fertile substrate.

Water Wisteria ( Hygrophila difformis )

Water Wisteria known for Its unique leaves. It grows fast and bushy, with large lobed light green leaves that can be heavily variegated, with each leaf having a bit of a unique shape.

It is a fast-growing plant; if nutrient levels get to low it may begin to die back. Additional fertilizer may be necessary in low nutrient tanks. It is best used as a background plant and will require frequent trimming.

Sold in bunches of 3 to 4 stems. One bunch is enough to plant about nine square inches of tank space.

Hygrophila polysperma

Hygrophila polysperma Is a fantastic beginner or easy plant resembling (and easy to confuse with) many types of Ludwigia. It grows fast and tall, with long pointed light green leaves. In bright light the leaves can become pink or chrimson.

It is a fast-growing plant; if nutrient levels get to low it may begin to die back. Additional fertilizer may be necessary in low nutrient tanks. It is best used as a background plant and will require frequent trimming.
