Rotala rotundifolia \ Rotala "indica"

Rotala rotundifolia

Rotala rotundifolia - often sold as Rotala indica is an easy, fast and dense growing plant.

It does well in most pHs and hardness, if well rooted and provided ample nutrients it will grow tall, dense, and bushy. It grows fast and forms frequent branches off from the thin main stems frequently. The small leaves will turn yellow to lavender under high light, usually at the tips. Stems or branches may be trimmed and replanted to propagate it.



This plant will grow tall and bushy unless frequently trimmed. It is best used as a background plant or well-trimmed midground.

Sold in bunches of 5 to 10 stems. One bunch is enough to plant about nine square inches of tank space.

Red Rotala macrandra

Red Rotala macrandra is a stunning but moderately difficult plant.

Similar in growth to Rotala rotundifolia under ideal conditions. Its Leaves are larger and acquire striking red, pink, and gold colors under high light. The stems are red and fragile. It needs med-high to high light - to the extent that lower leaves die in its own shade. Does best in CO2 injected tanks with plenty of light and nutrients.

Sold in bunches of 5 to 10 stems. One bunch is enough to plant about twelve square inches of tank space.
